About the collection…

Rewilding: Artistic Tales of Women’s Resilience

I'm compelled to tell women's stories, to honor them. This is a purpose I have embraced in my art. Creating this series felt like personal journaling with images and paint. It was freeing and fun, and sometimes serious. The collection serves as a diary of love for the women who have gone before me, for myself, and for the women I share this life with now.

Each piece explores a different facet of feminine resilience through mixed media, including hand painted collage papers, ink, acrylics, pastels, watercolor and photographs. By placing the faces and figures in surreal or dream-like surroundings, there is a sense of joy, but also longing, love, lifetimes of loss, non-conformity to the rules we were taught, discovery, self-awareness, strength, and ultimately, a return to our authentic selves.

With or without the deeper meaning, this collection is to be enjoyed as a celebration of color, light, depth, texture, and pushing the boundaries of abstraction and representational art. Loose with a bit of anarchy, these expressive portraits, florals, and landscapes offer to start conversation. My hope is that the viewer will make a connection, see something familiar, and finish the story for themselves.

Note: This series began in 2023 but will continue to grow in 2024. It is clear to me that I have much more to say on the theme of ‘rewilding’! New pieces will be added to the gallery below as I create them. Follow along on Instagram or Facebook and be sure to add your name to my mailing list to get first notice.
